Ethnographic Museum

Visitors can learn about national culture of the people inhabiting the territory of the Caucasus and Sochi city from time immemorial. Considerable part of the Exposition is devoted to the traditions and the history of the aboriginal inhabitants of the Black Sea coast - the shapsugs.

Adler District Historical Museum

Museum premises were constructed at the end of the XIX century. The first exposition was opened September 1, 1989. 15 thousand of museum pieces are kept in museum funds. In five museum halls archaeological finds of the Adler district area are exhibited as well as museum pieces telling about history of  opening up  and developing of Sochi resort area.  Considerable part of the Exposition covers the participation of Adler residents in the Great Patriotic War.

N. Ostrovsky Literary Memorial Museum

It was opened May 1, 1937 in the house of the writer Nikolay Ostrovsky where he had lived the last years of his life. Exposition covers life and creative work of the author of the world-known novel “How Steel was Tempered”. Here you can see authentic living conditions of Ostrovsky’s family, rare photos and documents of the epoch. Museum collections constantly increase with new rarities. Arts and crafts exhibitions are held in the museum halls.

Museum of the City-Resort of Sochi

Museum of the City Resort of Sochi is one of the oldest cultural institutions. It was opened in 1920. The Museum collections number to more than 150 thousand items.  Permanent expositions cover archeological finds, important facts of the resort life, its nature and Sochi city celebrities. There are 14 museum halls, including “Cosmonautics Hall” and a new object of interest “Olympic Glory Hall”.

It is a unique collection of authorial works carved with chisel from natural materials.

Datcha of V.V. Barsova Museum

Datcha was constructed in 1947 by V. V. Barsova, a famous Russian singer, People's Artist of the USSR, laureate of State Award of the USSR. In 1988 a department of the Museum of the City Resort of Sochi was opened in opera diva’s house. A permanent exposition “Life and Creative Work of V.V. Barsova” works in the museum. Creative musical soirйes are held in the memorial living room. An impressive famous singer’s record library  is presented.

Friendship Tree Garden-Museum

Only here one can see a unique creation of nature, of human work and scientific knowledge. In 1934 a famous horticulturist Fyodor Zorin planted a wild lemon tree in the garden. Later on dozens of different species of citrus plants were grafted on this tree. It was done by the Resort guests from different countries of the world. The tree has become a symbol of peace and friendship between people.

 

 

Sochi Museum of Fine Arts

The museum is located in one of the most beautiful buildings of the resort, which was constructed in 1936. Its fund has the largest collection of pictures on the Black Sea Coast counting more than five thousand items.  In the museum halls pieces of fine arts from antiquity to the present day are exhibited.  Painters of Sochi city add their works to the exposition, personal exhibitions and vernissages are held in the museum.

Khosta District Historical Museum

Museum premise is a historical monument of Sochi resort city. Before the Revolution of 1917 it used to be  Khosta Popular House. The Exposition displays the materials about the resort development collected by Sochi regional ethnographers. Exhibitions of local painters, art workers meetings and theme parties are held here.
