Organ and Chamber Music Hall

Located centrally in the city of Sochi. Its wonderful acoustics allows conducting organ, symphony, chamber-ensemble, choral, vocal music concerts. All year round local actors of the city art groups, famous Russian and international performers, International Contests Winners and Laureates give concerts here.

Painters, sculptors, photographers, applied arts and crafts and photo-design masters exhibit their works in the foyer of the Hall. There is an evergreen garden with exotic plants and sculptural composition in the yard, which harmoniously complements the exterior view of the Hall.

In 2006 Sochi Organ and Chamber Music Hall celebrated its twentieth anniversary. In the distant 1986 acquiring of the organ by the Resort city was a matter of nationwide importance and the high Government commission came to approve the work of Czechoslovakian firm "RIEGER-KLOSS" specialists. Legendary Russian musician Gary Grodberg, People's Artist of the USSR,  gave the first organ concert in Sochi.

Annually International Organ Music Festival is held in Sochi and outstanding organists from the near and far abroad participate in it.

In 2005 Organ and Chamber Music Hall was given the name of Alisa Fyodorovna Debolskaya, Honoured Cultural Worker of Russia and Honorary Citizen of Sochi, who had been directing the main academic Concert Hall of the Black Sea Coast of Russia for 12 years. Important city events, conferences and meetings, jubilee celebrations, city musical schools pupils' concerts, art teams’ presentations are held here.

Zimniy Theatre (Winter Theatre)

It is a distinctive cultural landmark of Sochi city such as the Bolshoy theatre for the capital of Russia or La Scala for Milan.  The building of Zimniy Theatre in Sochi was constructed in 1937 according to the design of the architect K.N.Chernopyatov. It was taken under protection of the State right away as the architectural monument of the national importance. The first in the history of the Winter Theatre theatrical season was solemnly opened with the opera “Tzar’s Bride” by N.Rimsky-Korsakov staged by Moscow Musical Theatre named after K.S Stanislavskiy  and N.V.Nemirovich-Danchenko on May 15, 1938.

Today it is next to none on the whole Black Sea Coast of Russia and not a single regional cultural institution can be compared to the main theatrical stage of Sochi. Guest performances of famous Drama and Musical Theatres of this country are held here, Enterprises and leading Symphony Orchestras come to perform.

The Winter Theatre is the place where Russian and international Art Festivals and Contests are held. “Kinotavr” Festival participants have already been marching on the star rug spread in front of the Theatre for more than two decades. In winter jokes and effervescent humour of “The Club of the Cheerful and the Sharp-Witted ” coming to the Sochi Festival “KIVIN” are heard  under its arches. The stage of the main theatrical ground of the Resort is never vacant. Valery Gergiev, Dmitry Khvorostovsky, Nikolay Petrov, Oleg Tabakov, Paata Burchuladze, Khibla Gerzmava, Yury Bashmet, Mikhail Kazakov, Lubov Kazarnovskaya, Sergey Yursky – the names of famous actors, singers and musicians adorn the posters of  the Winter Theatre all year round.

The Winter Theatre architecture deserves particular attention. The building erected in neoclassicism style is surrounded with 88 columns and fits well into peculiar look of the southern resort. Open foyer is decorated with a colonnade. The hall is lit with a huge stamped chandelier decorated with brightly glittering crystal.
The Winter Theatre features 970 seats. Not long ago the interior has been completely renovated; during the renovation the technical equipment, stage curtain and  act drop and  arm-chairs were replaced, the orchestra pit was enlarged. The considerate modern builders saw to spectators’ comfort. The systems of heating and air-conditioning were installed. The Winter Theatre now indeed means a year-round stage.

Frunze Summer Theatre

It continues the unique architectural ensemble of Sochi Resort where the Winter Theatre plays the leading part. In the picturesque Frunze Park laid out as far back as the beginning of XX century a building of the unique beauty, reflecting all styles features in the resort architecture of the first half of the last century was constructed according to the project of Moscow architect V.S. Krolets in 1937.  The parterre of the open air hall is surrounded with tracery roofed ground on two sides where lower boxes are located. Summer Theatre hall features 1600 seats. Its stage has remarkable acoustic characteristics. In due time the acoustics combined with its romantic outlook won it the glory of the main symphony concerts pavilion of the city. Outstanding symphony orchestras, singing and dancing ensembles, choreographic groups, pop and jazz bands have given their concerts in the theatre as well as honoured domestic and foreign singers such as I. Yurieva, V. Barsova, M. Biechu. In1960 Van Kilburn played on its stage.

In the nearest future the Summer Theatre will be completely reconstructed, which will allow preserving the inimitable southern originality of the building and will add modern sounding to it.

“Festivalny”Concert Hall

It is the main guest stage of Sochi Resort. It is located in the very city center, near the Sea Port, Michael Archangel Church and “Mayak” Aqua Park. Concert hall building is the creation of a  team of architects, Research Institutes specialists  and builders. They succeed in creating a building with unique location, architecture and acoustics, all conveniences for spectators, artists and sound technicians.

In the hall more than 2500 thousands seats descend as an amphitheatre down to the stage. A gorgeous view opens from every seat - of the sea expanse and of the sun setting behind the horizon. There are promenade terraces and bars in the spacious foyer opened on all sides to the seaside breeze.

In 1979 Festivalny Concert Hall welcomed its first spectators and artists. “Krasnaya Gvozdika” (“Red Carnation”) International Festival, “Mir Planety” (“World of the Planet”). Festival and Young Artists Contests opened the way to popularity for the then unknown singers. They are People's and Honoured Artists now and come to Sochi again. It is a great honour for them to perform on Festivalny stage. “Day of the City” celebration, “Alye Parusa” (“Scarlet Sails”) high school graduation celebration, WELLA COLOR CONGRESS professional forums, summer “KVN” Cup are held in the Hall during the intervals between concerts. Presentation of Davis Cup took place here, famous pop-operas such as “Jesus Christ Superstar”, “Juno and Avos” were given here. More then 7 million spectators have visited the main starry concert hall of Sochi Resort. The Festivalny Hall is always full, the average sitting capacity ratio is about 70% - one of the highest in Russia.

Riviera Park Green Theatre

An open air concert ground was built in “Riviera” park in the 50th of the last century.  Green Theatre is the second guests stage after “Festivalny” Concert Hall. Variety performers give concerts and art festivals take place here. Russian satirists especially like this stage and always pack halls. Green Theatre is located in the very center of the park and all Riviera park visitors become voluntary or involuntary concerts listeners as there are walking paths round the theatre. The ‘Riviera” Park has a place of interest of its own - Painters’ Alley where works of Sochi artists can be bought.

Sochi Circus

It is located at the crossing of Pushkin and Kurortny avenues, in the immediate proximity to the famous Sochi Arboretum (Dendrarium). Its big top has been recognized to be one of the best in Russia and  is well fitted into the surrounding landscape of the seacoast. Mosaic panel, decorating the faзade of the building attract attention of all guests driving into the city center. Sochi Circus is a place of interest of the Resort and one of its architectural pearls.

The Circus features 2 thousands seats and has air-conditioning, which creates a pleasant contrast with burning summer sun outside. Vestibules, foyers and galleries are decorated with mosaic and marble inlays. They create proper atmosphere of expectation of a holiday given to spectators by circus artists’ skills. Russian and international circus stars give performances, Sports tournaments, popular bands concerts; different festivals take place on the Sochi Circus arena. Sochi circus troop headed by Mstislav Zapashny, People's Artist of the USSR and Russia has won spectators' hearts of many countries.  Grandiose circus show tour of the performance “Tigers on mirror balls” started on Sochi Circus arena and continues its triumphant march till present day.
